Reasons to Join
the Archway Whānau
It's hard to know what a company will be like until you've been there right!?
Well, here's some insight into what it's like working at Archway and why it's great place to work.
Flexibility
We know flexibility is important. Some of our staff are parents and need to work a few days from home, while many work from home at least one day a week. Some of our team members work a little longer so they can swing by the gym during the day. We are open to discussing your flexibility needs when working with us.
Giving Back to Charity
We care about giving back to our communities by supporting different charities throughout the year. Through Archway Assist, we donate $10 for every review received through Sourcr over a quarter. You might even find some of our team in a onesie on the street collecting for Wellington Free Ambulance or other causes close to our hearts.
Our Culture
Transparency is a huge part of our culture, and we’re proud that our team values this as a key part of their employment experience. Before making any decision or having a difficult conversation, we refer to this principle, believing it's crucial for maintaining an inclusive and positive environment. Additionally, we celebrate diversity and appreciate everyone for who they are.
Show Me the Money
We are constantly evaluating what a competitive salary and commission scheme within recruitment looks like and we believe ours is one of the best! We keep staff salaries fair and competitive and in line with inflation. We love seeing our consultants sharing in the success of Archway and being rewarded for their efforts and performance!
Beyond the Basics
All staff have access to EAP counselling sessions, free flu vaccines, extra parental leave, and six days of additional discretionary leave each year. We provide coffee machines in each office for your perfect brew, weekly fruit boxes, and the chance to unwind with a drink on Fridays. On your birthday, enjoy cake or scones in the office to celebrate. Plus, it's not unusual to have a dog in the office to provide a laugh, cuddles, or a game of fetch!
Getting Ahead at Archway
We’re invested in our team’s growth and development and love seeing our consultants grow and succeed. Our staff receive regular opportunities for external training to enhance their skills and expertise. We set measurable and time-bound targets for promotion, so that you have a clear understanding of what you need to achieve to grow at Archway.
Autonomy over KPIs
Many of us have done our years in cubicles, wearing suits and ties whilst clock-watching. We recognise that not only are these conditions uncomfortable, but they’re also not necessary to achieve great results! We believe that the best performances result when consultants have the freedom and autonomy to grow their business, with a guiding and supportive hand, rather than strict micro-management or KPI-driven oversight.
Finding the Fun
You've got to celebrate the wins right?! We hold company-wide events every six months, and have some pretty awesome Christmas party adventures - recently we cycled part of the Remutaka Cycle Trail and then enjoyed dinner and drinks at Shed 5, a previous year we rode quad bikes in Hamner Springs and then jet boated on the Waiau River. If an office meets its quarterly target, the whole office will go out to do something, think comedy shows, gin making, burgers, beers and more.
Expertise
We’re a clever bunch of recruitment experts with over 100 years of collective experience. We’ve created a culture where you can learn in an inclusive and open environment. Our Directors and Consultants have recruited in different countries, industries and specialisations so can provide deep insights and support whether you’re looking for long-term mentoring or just support with a particularly difficult role.
Archway's Values
Archway is an employee-led organisation and our staff are our biggest asset. We genuinely care and want to make Archway
a great place to work, which is why our company values were created as a company-wide project. These aren’t for show, they’re part of Archway’s internal DNA.
We’re all about teamwork and partnerships with our people, clients, and our candidates, and finding the fun and enjoyment in what we do. We invest time to build great relationships and understand and meet our people’s, client’s and candidate’s needs as best we can. We share our ideas, experience, and knowledge. We collaborate with and help each other.
We want to be proud of what and how we achieve. We are dedicated professionals who genuinely care and collaborate, provide great advice and quality service, pay attention to detail and follow thorough compliant processes. We play the long game, so our clients and candidates keep coming back and our people stay with us.
Let’s be good humans – We respect and support other and show empathy. We trust, empower, and value each other. Healthy competition is great but don’t forget we’re all running the same race and often the best competition is against yourself. Let’s not lose sight of the personal touch when we engage with our clients and candidates. We are committed to supporting our people to be their best selves, keeping in mind that we always have to balance business and people’s needs.
Honesty and transparency are core for us. So, ask questions, tell us what you think, give us feedback and be yourselves. In return we’ll be open and approachable, we’ll listen, communicate clearly and share info, and we’ll value your unique contribution to our business. It’s a two-way street.

Principal Consultant (Construction)
"The reason I joined Archway was for the flexibility to suit my busy lifestyle as a parent. All four Directors have kids of their own, so they understand the importance of family first. They also have the utmost trust in you to do your job. I wouldn't call them "managers" because there are no KPIs as such, and they are not pushing you to send hundreds of CV's like other agencies. They just want you to do right by your candidates, and right by your clients as well as wanting you to do really well. They're great mentors because they have lots of recruitment experience between them and they are there when you need them to be there and offer knowledge-based support and advice to help you through any personal or professional situation."
