Top Summer Spots from the team at Archway
After a massive year we are super excited to be out of the office and enjoying our top summer destinations within New Zealand. With international borders still closed it’s given the team the chance to explore their own back yard.
One of the many great benefits Archway provides their consultants is an extra six days paid leave between Christmas and New Year! The total paid leave for Archway staff is 26 days versus the standard 20 days.
“The team love it, with family commitments you often go through your leave balance covering child care during school holidays. The extra six days really gives staff a decent break.” Jonathan Greening, Director at Archway.
With so many amazing places to travel across New Zealand we’ve shared some of our favourite spots, many of which have been holiday destinations for years.

Holiday Hotspot: Abel Tasman National Park
Highlight: It really is paradise! We setup camp at Totaruni and the days are spent hanging out on the beaches, campsite, reading, playing cricket and having an afternoon siesta (if we’re lucky!). The kids love the white sandy beaches, safe swimming in the lagoons and limited wifi connection.

Holiday Hotspot: Martinborough
Highlights: Known for its stunning weather, Martinborough is really well suited to people that love their food and wine and makes for a great couples escape. We enjoy renting bikes for the day to cycle around the vineyards and usually head to the MB Craft Brewery afterward for a sampling tray on the way home before enjoying a meal at one of Martinborough’s many great restaurants.

Holiday Hotspot: Mount Manganui
Highlights: This is always a popular spot and was off course going to make the short list! As a destination it’s well suited to couples, families, and people all ages. A great location for people who like the outdoors, Mount Manganui offers plenty of hikes, surf beaches, and golfing opportunities before settling in for a few board games (and beers) at night.

Holiday Hotspot: Kaiteriteri
Highlights: A popular spot in the Upper South Island due to its fabulous weather, plenty of people from Christchurch head to Kaiteriteri over the summer. It is a great place to relax and camp with the family. The beach is absolutely stunning and there is loads to do – everything from paddle boarding, kayaking, boat trips, walks to nearby beaches, exploring the caves and day trips to Split Apple Rock.

Holiday Hotspot: Central Otago
Highlights: Camping at Bannockburn three minutes’ drive from Cromwell, Bannockburn is a small town that seems to have its own microclimate – it gets hot! The campsite has good facilities and limited numbers, so it is never crowded. Lake Dunstan is right on the doorstep as a swimming spot. You can spend your day relaxing in the sun, swimming, exploring old gold mining towns and there are plenty of day trips within an hour away including Cromwell, Clyde and Queenstown.
