Work from Home Diaries – Nick Parson
Nick believes flexible working environments really help attract great talent. Not only do we make sure our candidates find a great work / life fit in their positions – we also focus on this with the Archway consultant team.
In one sentence what is your job?
I recruit professionals in the property and architectural industries
You’ve only just joined the team at Archway, tell us a bit about the workplace culture so far?
It’s a relaxed and humours workplace, we collaborate effectively. We also have a puppy in the office and someone regularly busts out cake or chocolate.
What do you love about the flexibility to be able to work from home or in the office?
It’s good to mix it up with working in the office because I find I get a lot of energy from working with other people and there is a good buzz round our office.
How has a flexible working environment helped you both personally and professionally?
It’s a great feeling being able to pick up or drop off my kids and attend their events in and outside of school. I also find I can get out for some exercise more easily. I’m better at my job because I’m in a good space day to day and really motivated to do a great job.
As both an employee and a recruiter how important do you think a flexible workplace is?
Extremely important, I recruit for companies who are wanting to attract and retain top talent. As an employer you need to be competitive in all aspects of the working environment to achieve this. As an employee flexibility is critical to me, I’m a father of three, work and family life need to work together.
