Who are you?

My name is Yolande and I am working remotely out of sunny Nelson.

Originally from South Africa, I moved to New Zealand about five years ago with my husband and our two Labradors.

What do you do at Archway Recruitment?

I am a Talent Manager supporting Susannah Shackel in the Business Support space, recruiting for clients within the built environment predominantly. Most of my time is spent sourcing and building relationships with our amazing candidates!

What do you do when you aren’t at work?

Outside of work, I enjoy running (I have recently completed my first half marathon) and spending time outdoors with my friends and family. I wouldn’t call myself a foodie, but I do enjoy trying out new restaurants!

How many candidates on average do you interview a month?

If you could give a candidate one piece of advice what would it be?

Sleep on it – don’t make any rash decisions.

What career did you want to have when you were a kid?

I wanted to become an Anaesthetist but nearly flunked Science in school… so that dream was never going to become a reality.

Is this your second career? What is your first?

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work but never went into practice. For me, recruitment is where social work and the corporate world collide, as I still feel like I’m making a difference in people’s lives.

If you were ever going to go on a reality TV show, which one would you go on and why?

Amazing Race! I love to solve puzzles and can get a bit competitive.
