How the Visa changes impact New Zealand’s workforce
Having attended an RCSA seminar with Aims Global, I wondered how many engineering consultancies are aware of the upcoming changes to work visa. In a nutshell, if you are not an Accredited Employer and you have team members who require a work visa, gaining an extension after 31st October 2021 will not be possible.
Engineers, technicians, and support workers who have essential skills work visa, talent visa or long-term skill shortage visa require an employer that is an Accredited Employer to continue their employment.
With good candidates so hard to find, don’t leave this process to the last minute. NZ immigration indicated they expect a high level of applications from late September when the new system is launched.
There are many changes that are worth reviewing with this update raising immediate red flags. Consult Immigration New Zealand for expert advice and the latest Visa updates.
