Work from Home Diaries: Liz

Working from Home Diaries

Bringing you stories from our Archway team who spend some of their week working from home.

Offering a flexible working environment that helps the team be their best, whilst ensuring they can support their personal commitments is what we strive to create for our consultants.

Not only is Liz great at what she does here at Archway, no matter where she is working. We think Barry is one lucky pup and her boys must love seeing Mum at school pickup. Check out how Liz balances work and life.

In one sentence what is your job?

I work with construction contractors to find their top performing staff.

How long does it normally take you to commute when you work in the office?

A little over two hours each day.

What do you love about working from home?

I can fit work in around my family. I have two young boys and a puppy so life can get pretty hectic.

I feel very fortunate that Archway has been so accommodating right from the get-go. My clients and candidates are also very understanding of my part-time hours and have often commented on how progressive Archway are, in being so flexible.

I get a lot more done from home – I automatically get 2 hours back in my day from not having to commute, which I’m able to use for far more productivity for both home and work. If I have an appointment, my dog is excited and needs an extra walk, or a client needs an overseas reference at a weird time – I can just do it, knowing I have that extra time and flexibility.

I do also love the fact that if I’m having a terrible hair day, no one can see it!

What do you miss from the office when you are working from home?

I do miss the team and the banter in the office. We all get along really well. As I work in the office one day a week – I always look forward to my Wednesdays with the team.

I do a lot of baking so they love me coming into the office too!

What do you do with the extra time now you don’t have to commute?

I get a bit of a sleep-in, which is lovely. I walk Barry, catch up on emails and admin bits before I get stuck into meetings and phone calls.

It’s great stability for my boys, too, as I’m able to do school drop off and pick up, and we get to spend much more quality time together before witching-hour starts!
