Meet the Team: Madeline Berry
Maddy is Archway’s Specialist Recruitment Consultant within the Transactional Accounting Space. Get to know Maddy a little better via her Q&As below:
Who are you?
My name is Madeline Berry (most people call me Maddy) and I am based in Wellington. I was originally born in Christchurch but after deciding to study at Victoria University and meeting my partner here I knew the capital had my heart.
What do you do at Archway Recruitment?
I have the privilege of working for the Corporate Services Division at Archway Recruitment. I am a Specialist Consultant recruiting within the Transactional Accounting space. Previously having worked within the accounts administration space, I bring an understanding of this market and what is required.
What do you do when you are not at work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, playing board games, going to the movies, doing escape rooms, going on adventures (especially around Zealandia) and enjoying the Wellington food scene!
How many candidates on average do you interview a month?
I usually meet with and register approximately 60 candidates a month.
What is the funniest thing someone has said in an interview?
The funniest thing someone has done in an interview was actually after the interview itself. They texted asking me out to dinner (I politely declined).
If you could give a candidate one piece of advice what would it be?
Always do your research on the organisation you are interviewing for. Not only does it show your genuine interest but may put you ahead of the other candidates.
If you could give a client one piece of advice what would it be?
Have a robust recruitment process! We are in a candidate-driven market at the moment so ensuring you can move fast is important.
Do you have a party trick?
I can name all the US States in alphabetical order.
What is your superpower?
As cheesy as it sounds – my superpower is absolutely my personality. I love being a chatty, bubbly and happy person.
What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?
Being creative!
If you were ever going to go on a reality TV show, which one would you go on and why?
Wipe Out because of the big ‘red balls’!
